Colonel Louis C. Friedersdorff, formerly of Madison, Indiana died at his home in San Antonio, Texas on March 9, 1964 following a long and distinguished military career.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Freidersdorff, Sr. and he spent his formative years in Madison, graduating with honors from Madison High school. He was an athletic and likeable young man, fond of athletics but serious in nature. When he was accepted at West Point Academy, it was expected he would do well and he did. He attended to his academic responsibilities and was popular with his classmates. He graduated in 1924. Shortly thereafter, in 1926, he married Adelaide W. Campbell in San Antonio, Texas.

His duties prior to the war were chiefly artillery command posts. When World War II broke out Friedersdorff would play a major roll in its conduct. He served in the G-3 Section at 4th Army Headquarters in an area that comprised Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. His major assignments during the war would include, Battalion commander of the 14th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Armored Division in Africa, Sicily and England during 1942 to 1944 and division trains commander during 1944 and 1945 in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Later, during 1950-51 he was chief of civilian components, G-I, Department of the Army.

Prior to his retirement in 1957 at 4th Army Headquarters, Fort Sam Houston, Texas he served as senior member of the United Nations command committee for repatriation of prisoners of war.
